Word of Mouth: I Love Referrals!

word-of-mouth

When I first started my event planning business, I was hired by a non-profit organization by the name of Proverbs 31 Mama Ministries (they have since changed the name). I was excited and nervous! I was excited because some one was actually taking a chance on me. I was nervous because this was going to be their first big event, and it needed to be awesome. Well, I must have done OK because the founder of the organization left a great review on my Thumbtack profile.

Working with DeLonda was so much fun! She wanted to organize a women’s retreat and she wanted it to be special. One of the biggest challenges she was facing was finding a venue that was classy, but that was also affordable. Like most people she had spent a lot of time scouring the internet and came up empty handed. After I sent out a few requests, she was able to pick from a few venues in the area that fit her specifications. She chose her favorite, and I went to work to get her the best deal possible. She was able to get meeting space and hotel rooms for her group at a price that she was comfortable with.

The time that DeLonda and I spent working together will always be special to me. We were both doing something for the first time, but we were doing it together. At the time, I was living in New Jersey, and the event was taking place in Colorado. It was my first experience with virtual event planning, and I didn’t even know what it was! To this day, DeLonda and I have yet to meet face-to-face, but I’m so glad that I was able to help her and her ministry. If you are reading this, DeLonda, thank you for giving me a chance.

Never The Two Shall Meet: Virtual Event Planning

black woman typing

When it comes to hiring an event planner, one of the objections I hear most often is that people just can’t afford it. I am a mom of 5, I home-school, and I’m a businesswoman  so I know how important it is to stick to a budget. However, I also know how stressful the planning process can be especially when you are planning events for yourself. Ten years ago I planned my own wedding with very little help from anyone else. There were several times when I wished I’d had a little support or just an objective third party to bounce ideas off of. However, I just could not afford an event planner especially when everyone that I spoke to was going to charge me the same price regardless of the level of services I needed. I didn’t like it then, and I don’t like it now.

That’s why I’m so excited to tell you about a service I recently began offering. It’s virtual event planning! What is virtual event planning? It’s the best solution for someone who needs help with the logistics of event planning and doesn’t necessarily need a lot of face-time with an even planner.  It’s also a great option for those of us who have to be mindful of the bottom line.

How does virtual event planning work? Thanks to all of the wonderful technology we have at our disposal, I’m able to offer many of the same services I offer my full planning clients, but at a fraction of the price. This is because you will only be paying for the services you really need and it’s all done virtually so you’re not paying to meet with someone. This also means that I am able to offer this service to you regardless of your location!
